By the time February nears here in New England, winters seem as if they are lasting forever. I find myself longing for spring, or at least a little evidence it is coming soon. To help ease through the last dreary months of winter, I decided a bedding refresh might be a cheerful solution.
In my search to find bedding that would give our master bedroom a winter uplift, I found the perfect percale bedding from Garnet Hill. What a great find! By far, this bedding has quickly become a favorite in my home. Although its appearance looks as if it might be scratchy and uncomfortable next to skin, it is actually lusciously soft and soothing; offering warmth or cooling depending on the temperature or weather. As an added bonus the bedding is all organic! What a heavenly combination.
Thank you January white sales
I purchased the Astor Ruffle Washed-Percale Bedding from Garnet Hill during the January white sale (don’t miss the white sales!). I loved the look; crisp white with a crinkled linen-like appearance and a dainty time worn ruffle (thank you Rachel Ashwell for your inspiration). My long time passion for vintage linens and European fabrics keeps me watching for new treasures. Therefore, the heirloom character of the sheets and duvet caught my eye immediately. How nice they are not only beautiful, but also sumptuous to climb into at the end of the day.
The bedding shown here in the photos are: sheets and pillowcases in “white”, with the duvet in a color titled “Parchment”. The Parchment shade listed on-line looks like a warm beige or camel color. But in person, it is actually a very pretty dusty pinkish beige. Although the color is not what was expected when ordering, this interesting shade turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I adore it! The perfect shade for a winter bedding refresh.
More of a good thing
Because I loved the Astor line of bedding so much, I continued to take advantage of the white sale and purchased additional sheets, pillow cases, and two more percale duvets in ” Oxford Blue”, and “White” (naturally!). Each color is beautiful and easy to change as desired using my Pottery Barn duvet insert. Because the temperatures are still cold here (ok freezing!) the needed warmth of the duvet with insert makes for a cozy nest for the last coming days of winter. But the gentle colors and textures are a reminder that spring is just around the corner. Perfect, just what we need.
More inspiration to come
In the future I plan to post more photos of the percale bedding showcasing the different colors mentioned, along with seasonal decor inspiration (the percale bedding will extend well into spring too!). For those interested, my queen bed shown is the Ethan Allen four poster antique replica Quincy bed (in Charcoal).
Have a cheerful and restful mid-winter.
