As October Lingers

A Quiet Pause
October has a way of reminding us to notice what won’t be here for long. As the new season rolls in, flowers display final blooms, leaves reach their peak of autumn color, the last of homegrown tomatoes are harvested, geese fly high overhead in a V-formation pointing south, warm air makes way for cooler brisk breezes and the reach for a warm blanket.
With a soulful nod, we pause to notice moments such as these, and somehow they feel more precious. In witnessing these changes, there is something solemn yet hopeful at the same time. Is this possibly a gentle wink from God? A reminder to pause and reflect? Nature seems to whisper that nothing here stays quite the same. Flowers fade, the leaves fall, and one season quietly gives way to another.
Perhaps there is something to be learned in that. What if these small endings are invitations to let go, and to trust what comes next? Maybe the real beauty of a fleeting moment is found partly in knowing that it cannot be held forever–trusting that every ending opens an opportunity for something beautifully new.
