Unboxing the Literary Book Club: A Winter Treat

Uncategorized

This year, especially during the cold of winter here in New England, I have made the commitment to take a reading break each and every day. With cup of tea and a wonderful classic in hand, it has been a most welcomed addition to my day!

Right now I am enjoying the lovely unboxing of my subscription to “The Literary Book Club“.

Honestly I have had this box set aside to unbox and read, for months, and I am finally getting to it!

If you are not familiar with the Literary book club, this is how it works: with a subscription you receive a new book to read, along with several goodies inside the box. The little gifts are wrapped beautifully and marked with page numbers to indicate when they should be opened. Such a treat! I highly recommend….

I hope you found inspiration today.

Keep warm and keep reading,

Inspiration for the season… As the seasons change Inspiration for the season…

As the seasons change and days fold into night, there’s a gentle shift all around us. Nature takes on vivid shades of deep russet, amber, and brown. There is something about this change that creates a more serene atmosphere, perhaps even a bit mysterious.

I don’t usually lean into the spooky side of the season, but I do love small touches inspired by autumn. Rich textures and warm colors sprinkled here and there, bring in just enough seasonal charm — without the need to redecorate the entire home.

In this month’s edit, I’m sharing a collection of thoughtfully chosen finds that capture the warmth, beauty, and timeless charm of autumn. The result is a classic, inviting atmosphere that never goes out of style.

This little bookmark is very easy to create as a gift to yourself or tuck into a card for a friend. The sentiment is an excerpt from this month's reflection; a gentle reminder to trust God.

A Quiet Pause October has a way of reminding us t A Quiet Pause

October has a way of reminding us to notice what won't be here for long. As the new season rolls in, flowers display final blooms, leaves reach their peak of autumn color, the last of homegrown tomatoes are harvested, geese fly high overhead in a V-formation pointing south, warm air makes way for cooler brisk breezes and the reach for a warm blanket.

With a soulful nod, we pause to notice moments such as these, and somehow they feel more precious. In witnessing these changes, there is something solemn yet hopeful at the same time. Is this possibly a gentle wink from God? A reminder to pause and reflect? Nature seems to whisper that nothing here stays quite the same. Flowers fade, the leaves fall, and one season quietly gives way to another.

Perhaps there is something to be learned in that. What if these small endings are invitations to let go, and to trust what comes next? Maybe the real beauty of a fleeting moment is found partly in knowing that it cannot be held forever--trusting that every ending opens an opportunity for something beautifully new.

Carolyn

This week I made a deliciously sweet and savory yellow pear tomato jam. It's wonderful spread on crusty bread and as a side to roasted chicken.

Enjoy!
